“The Last Time We Lost 0-4 to Barcelona, We Won the League and Champions League”
After Real Madrid’s painful 0-4 defeat to Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti struck an optimistic tone in his post-game analysis. The Italian coach highlighted the first 60 minutes as positive and noted that the team was penalized for not capitalizing on goal opportunities.
“It was a balanced game. We had chances and an intense first half, but lacked efficiency. They scored and then quickly extended their lead, which drained our energy. In the first half, I liked the team’s performance. There’s nothing to discard here; we competed well in the first 60 minutes, and we need to forget the last 30,” analyzed Ancelotti, defending Mbappé, who was often caught offside by the Catalan defense: “We took risks. Sometimes he was offside, but we knew they’d play with a high line.”
With 12 offsides and four clear opportunities missed, Ancelotti reaffirmed the determination to overcome the league deficit. He also took the opportunity to remind everyone of the 2021/2022 season: “The last time we lost 0-4 at home to Barcelona, we went on to win the league and the Champions League.”
